I don't think I'm finding the right balance in things. I'm talking to so many people so much of time, and I don't seem to be getting much of anywhere. So few people want to unite London Below, and they won't see how it would help us all. Father was so certain it was worth it, but they make me wonder.

Maybe it would be better to spend more time with Richard. We don't do enough together, do we? I think couples usually do more. I would enjoy that, at least.

Between the Cracks

" 'There seems something more speakingly incomprehensible in the powers, the failures, the inequalities of memory, than in any other of our intelligences. The memory is sometimes so retentive, so serviceable, so obedient-at others, so bewildered and so weak-and at others again so tyrannic, so beyond control!-We are sure to be a miracle in every way-but our powers of recollecting and of forgetting do seem peculiarly past finding out.' "
- Jane Austen, Mansfield Park
